In 2015, Ms. McCray enrolled in Atlanta’s John Marshall Law School’s part-time evening program while maintaining full-time employment as a Litigation Paralegal. Despite her rigorous schedule, Ms. McCray excelled both at school and work. In her first year of law school, Ms. McCray was selected to compete in the G. Alan Blackburn Moot Court Competition, in which she was a second-round finalist. From 2017 until 2019, Ms. McCray served as a Peer Mentor and a published Staff Editor for the Law Journal. She is a CALI Award recipient for Evidence I and Criminal Justice Lawyering for earning the highest grade in those courses. The highlight of Ms. McCray’s law school tenure is her enrollment in the University of Missouri’s study abroad program, in which she spent her last summer semester at the University of the Western Cape Faculty of Law in Cape Town, South Africa. During her final semester of law school, Ms. McCray was accepted into the City of Atlanta’s Office of the Public Defender’s Externship Program, where she was able to utilize her Student Practice Certificate to gain courtroom experience while serving Atlanta’s indigent community. Ms. McCray graduated Cum Laude from John Marshall in May 2019 and was sworn into the practice of law in November 2019.
In April 2019, Ms. McCray was recruited by a mid-size and rapidly growing personal injury law firm. Within seven months of being a licensed attorney, Ms. McCray served as Associate Counsel for the firm’s largest settlement to date. During her two years of employment, Ms. McCray was as an architect of the firm’s litigation department, trained litigators and administrative staff, and personally litigated over 15o cases.
In summer of 2021, Ms. McCray was recruited by one of the world’s largest insurance companies. After careful consideration and prayer, Ms. McCray accepted the Field Counsel position. While working for her longtime adversary, Ms. McCray gained critical insight into the methodology, strategy, and tactics of insurance adjusters and defense attorneys. Professionally, Ms. McCray polished her litigation skills and finally achieved her dream of becoming a trial attorney, having served as second chair and eventually first chair over the course of nine bench and jury trials.
In August 2023, Ms. McCray’s mother sustained severe injuries resulting from falling on uneven pavement in a grocery store’s parking lot. Ms. McCray understood that her entire legal career equipped her to not only handle the representation of her mother’s claim, but to also build a law firm that reflects the change she desires to see within the personal injury industry, which she has worked in for thirteen years. Ms. McCray is eternally grateful to her mother for being her first client and the catalyst to her entrepreneurial journey. On December 25, 2023, Ms. McCray announced the launch of Fancy Law, P.C. and is excitedly representing her first cohort of clients.
Danielle McCray began her legal career as a Paralegal in 2011 after completing Emory University’s Paralegal Certificate Program. As a Paralegal, Ms. McCray gained invaluable experience assisting in the representation of individuals that sustained catastrophic injuries or untimely passed away due to the negligent actions of others. Ms. McCray passionately devoted her Paralegal career to civil litigation and aided in the recovery of tens of millions of dollars within the five years that she was employed at a boutique personal injury law firm. It became clear very early on in her Paralegal career that Ms. McCray possessed the intellect, work ethic, and zealousness that clients admire in an attorney.
